I was born in the municipality of Imias, in Guantánamo Province, Cuba. I began my artistic training at the Provincial Vocational School of Arts, where I studied painting from 1989 to 1992. I was later accepted into the National School of Arts in Havana, where I completed a four-year program and graduated in 1996 with a specialization in painting. That same year, I presented my first solo exhibition, Señales, at the Servando Cabrera Moreno Gallery in Havana, which received significant media exposure. In the following decades I would become a nomad, experiencing many lives in different countries.

In 2001, through the Hermanos Saiz Association, an organization supporting young Cuban artists, I was invited to Germany to exhibit my work. After living the experience of being detained as an undocumented immigrant for 45 days and receiving assistance to remain as a refugee in the city of Würzburg, I participated in local exhibition projects in spaces like Art ZuWandern, Kunstler auf dem Weg zu uns kunststuck Gallery Würzburg, and later I participated in several projects in Spain.

In 2004, I traveled to Central America and lived in Nicaragua for two years, where I engaged with the local cultural scene and participated in both solo and group exhibitions. In 2007, I relocated to Tampa, Florida, where I took part in significant exhibitions, including Retro-Perspectives at the Tampa Museum of Art, Connections & Combinations…with a Twist at the Lake Wales Arts Center, Visual Unity at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg and my solo show Ultima Estacion at CATM-CHELSEA Gallery, New York, USA.

In 2012, I was awarded the Carolyn Heller Award for Best Visual Artist by the Arts Council of the City of Tampa. I also received a grant from Hillsborough County to attend an artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center in the United States.

I later returned to Nicaragua, where I established my studio and continued my artistic practice. In 2014 I was awarded with Mixed Media Award in the II Biennial of Art in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Also, I participated in La No Bienal, San José, Costa Rica and Lisa Maria Zimmermann (BACOS) 2018. Islas Canarias, Spain.

In Nicaragua, I have held solo exhibitions in contemporary art spaces in Managua and in major cultural institutions across Central America. Notably, my solo exhibition Trópicos transitorios (2025) was presented at the Museum for National Identity in Honduras and the Galería Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.
